ORLANDO KANYE OWNS THE MOON

Introducing under-the-radar talent Orlando who has just dropped his Nike’s and Dandelions EP, which was entirely penned and produced in the young artist’s bedroom. It’s heavy with the contemporary influence of acts like Rex Orange County and Easy Life, especially in our personal favourite track ‘Kanye Owns The Moon’. It’s a refreshingly honest commentary on the life of a late teen. He imagines an outlandish-yet-optimistic future where Kanye West owns the moon and Orlando is living the high-life in Beverly Hills, but still he holds reserve on whether he’ll have a girlfriend or not. We love the originality of Orlando’s lyrics which flow naturally over the chunky two-step rhythm and hazy-pop melody. Like the other tracks, there’s a floating sense of insecurity within his raw conversational words that we find entirely endearing and relatable. While the London-via-Cotswold musician may still have a small online following, this EP shows that Orlando has real promise to go the distance - Hannah Thacker
